I opened my mouth, then closed it. Today felt like one of those days when Darius wouldn’t come. He sometimes left me alone for an entire day, and I had a strong gut feeling that tomorrow would be one of those days.
Lucia’s voice broke through my thoughts. “Now, I want you to see those little orbs floating. I want you to draw them to yourself, breathing as though you’re pulling in air. Do you see it?”
I closed my eyes and shook my head.
“Remember, you’re not trying to force the vision. The orbs are already there; they just need to be drawn out. If you close your eyes, you will see them. Think about metal—how it’s cold, smooth, lifeless, yet there’s a spark of life within it. When you feel that heat—the heat that formed the metal to begin with—you’ll understand. Think about it, Talia. You’ll see it.”
