He stomped into my hospital room shortly after, his eyes wide with rage and his expression darkened. Frankly, I should have flinched and run for the hills, but I knew him. He would never hurt me. As he walked slowly towards me, his rage gradually shifted into worry.
“What happened?” he asked, reaching out and picking up my hand.
"I'm sorry," I said, allowing him to pull me closer until my head rested against his chest. He buried his face in my neck, breathing in my scent, which seemed to calm him as well. “What happened to you?” he asked again, his voice filled with concern. “Your heartbeat sounds a bit weak.”
“Really?” I asked, pulling slightly away from him. He looked at me with the same worried expression.
“Yes,” he said slowly. “Didn’t the doctor tell you? Or is this not working as well as we thought?”
