“You have done well,” she heard over and over again. There was no pride in killing her friends, but she was made to understand that she should somehow be proud of her own betrayal—if, of course, Agatha was truly going to play along with the lie she had created. It was hard, however, standing in front of Orion and baking with guilt. There was no need to feel like this, he said. “We all know this to be true. You had no choice,” he added, his eyes filled with anxiety.
As she began to feel the cold seeping into her bones, she muttered, “I lied.” Her voice was barely above a whisper, fraught with hesitation. “Or I just don’t know. There’s a chance she might still be alive,” she said, meeting his eyes.
