He rushed out of the building and into his car. Quickly starting the engine, he stepped on the gas, making the otherwise two-hour journey from the Central Tribe to Melissandra’s house, situated on the edge of their territory.
He burst into Melissandra’s house just as she was pouring herself a cup of tea. Her eyes widened in surprise, but she didn’t look startled. If anything, she looked as though she had been expecting him.
