Chapter 138: Rubber walls

Four days. Baron told himself as he woke up from bed. He was effectively hungover after drowning several bottles of venom given to him by his deranged friend.
“Are you leaving?” Bane asked when Baron was ready to go back.
“I should at some point,” Baron replied, taking a seat in the living area. “I want to see if anything strange happened during the time I was gone.”
“Don’t leave yet. One more day,” his friend said, giving Baron a friendly bump on the shoulder. “Do we have a battle?” Bane asked.
Baron shook his head. “If I have a battle with you in this state, I’d have a very good chance of killing you. That’s the last thing I want, Bane,” he said. “I’m nursing a broken heart right now.”
“Try again,” Bane said, placing a gentle hand on Baron’s shoulder. “Maybe. It wouldn’t be such a bad idea. I’ll take it overboard. But are you going to spend one more day?”
“No. Please,” his friend pleaded.
Baron rolled his eyes and felt himself concede. “Fine,” he said.
