CHAPTER 119: I AM NOT GOING TO LET HIM WIN
"Daniel?" she croaked, her voice barely a whisper. "You came for me."
As Juliet's eyes fluttered open, Daniel's world felt right for the first time in ages. He could see a future with her, a future where they could leave their complicated pasts behind and start anew.
But just as he was about to tell her how much he loved her, he felt a sharp pain at the back of his head, followed by a sickening crack.
He crumpled to the ground, dazed and disoriented.
When his vision cleared, he saw Bruno looming over him, a maniacal smile on his face.
"You didn't think I'd go down that easily, did you?" Bruno snarled, his voice dripping with venom. He held the jagged rock in his hand, his eyes fixed on Daniel with a malevolent gleam.
"You made a mistake, my friend," he continued, pressing the rock against Daniel's throat. "You should have finished me off when you had the chance. But now..."
Bruno's gaze flicked over to Juliet, who had tried to stand up but was unsteady on her feet.
