Daphne's POV
I woke up before the first light of dawn, the weight of the day pressing down on my chest. I turned to look at Daphne, her face peaceful in sleep.
Her hair was a dark halo on the pillow, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of sorrow knowing what might come.
Gently, I leaned over and kissed her forehead. “I love you,” I whispered. “I’ll do everything to keep you safe.”
I slipped out of bed and walked over to our son, who was sleeping soundly in his crib. Leaning down, I pressed a kiss to his tiny forehead as well. “I love you, my boy. Daddy’s going to make sure you’re safe.”
With a heavy heart, I dressed quickly and stepped out of our home into the early morning chill. The air was thick with tension. The pack warriors were already gathered, their faces set in grim determination. I took a deep breath and addressed them, my voice steady and clear. “It’s time.”
They nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. As we moved to lay our ambush, I called Enzo over. H
