Chapter 33 Bike-wrecker
Joe's eyes bugged at the bill amount. "Forty thousand dollars?" His squawk of disbelief echoed through the first floor of Lambert Group. "Ms. Keller sent you, you said?"
"That's right." The foreman's face was covered in dust and dirt, and his hands were blackened by motor grease. He was also sweating after the hard labor he carried out. Worried that Joe might not buy his story, he pulled out a crumpled note from his pocket and showed it to the bewildered Joe.
There was a name scrawled on the note. Upon closer inspection, Joe recognized it as Adeline's flamboyant signature. After all, he had seen the same signature on the many bills for PR fees that Christopher ended up reimbursing.
"Ms. Keller also said the payment would be reimbursed by your superior," the foreman added as he pulled up the payment QR code on his phone for Joe's convenience.
Joe would make Christopher reimburse the amount no matter what. He had a feeling that Christopher was behind this mess in the first place.
