356 A STREET GANG ATTACKS AIDEN
Looking up, Aiden managed to squeeze his dreamy eyes open enough to know it was daybreak; he thought he heard the sound of cars as they drove away, close to where he was and some noise not far from where he lay. It all sounded strange, knowing there wasn't anything bad that could disturb his sleep at home. He turned to the left, intending to reach out for the warm embrace of his pillow, as his habit was, only to feel a sharp touch of something rough; it was an abrasive metal left by some unknown person. A natural prompt prompted him to widen his eyes, seeking a clearer view of the surroundings he believed to be his home. Surprised, he found himself in a kiosk. Then he came around, reflecting on his prior conscious state, and accepted that he didn't sleep at home. He couldn't believe his eyes. That was the first time he found himself in that odd predicament.
