355 THE SEARCH FOR AIDEN
Flooded by confusion amidst mixed emotions, Madison hurried back into the house while Caden dragged himself behind her. She had been upset about the twins going out without permission and coming home late, but now the worst turn-out was her missing son, Aiden. Where could he have gone in the middle of the night? And Caden didn't seem to know his whereabouts, increasing her agitation. She dashed into the room to wake Ethan, who was lightly asleep. Even though fathers may not express the kind of instinct and concern ascribed to mothers, they still care, only that they are calmer and more intentional in their attitude.
"Ethan," she called. Madison didn't need to touch him before he fell asleep. His eyes, still clear as though he wasn't sleeping, gazed at her as she moved closer with a clear expression of perplexity.
