CHAPTER TWENTY THREE – THE PLAN TO GET HIM BACK
The next morning, Charlotte hatched her plan.
She gathered a box of cherished memories - photos of their romantic European getaways, love notes he'd scribbled on napkins during dinner, the leather-bound collection of Wordsworth poems he'd gifted her when they first started dating.
Clutching it tightly, she stormed through the gilded lobby of Montgomery Enterprises.
"I need to see Alexander Montgomery," she barked at the prim receptionist, not caring how deranged she looked. "Immediately!"
"I'm afraid Mr. Montgomery isn't accepting visitors—" the woman began in a snooty tone.
But Charlotte was already brushing past her and striding toward the elevators. She'd spent enough time in this building visiting Alexander over the years; she knew her way around. The receptionist's protests faded behind her.
