Upon seeing my stubbornness, Selena relented.
However, when it was our turn to board the roller coaster, fate seemed to play a hand as we ended up in the very last row.
"I've never sat in the last row, but I've heard it's not as fun. Hud, should we wait for the next round?" she asked.
Earlier, I might have gone along with her suggestion, patiently waiting for the next ride so we could choose any seat we wanted. But now, I wanted to have my own way.
"No, there's already a spot. Why wait for the next one? Whether it's the front row or the back row, it's all the same. Selena, don't be so finicky."
I realized I sounded a bit harsh. Turning to gauge her reaction, I saw a flicker of surprise on her face, quickly replaced by a look of grievance as she huffed at me. "Hudson, don't regret it later."
Selena rarely called me Hudson; she loved to call me Hud. When she called me Hudson, it meant she was genuinely upset.
