Mia was too young to have orchestrated everything on her own.
There had to be someone else pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Mia was sleeping soundly when I entered her room.

Mia looked smaller than her age as she lay in the bed quietly, her face a shade of sickly white.

‘How is she doing?’ I whispered to Carole.
‘Better, but still weak. The doctors said she lost almost a third of her blood. It’ll take some time for her to recover.’
