I didn’t have a heatstroke.
I was poisoned by a neurotoxin, which was also responsible for my hallucinations and erratic behaviour.
I fell into a coma three days ago because of a sudden toxin overload.
The entire team of neurologists at the hospitals were stumped.
They knew I was poisoned, but couldn’t begin to formulate a treatment plan unless they identified the toxin.
Luckily, a visiting neurologist heard of the case and offered his help.
The compound was synthetic, made in a lab overseas.
‘The doctors told me that the toxin’s likely ingested orally, over a period of time,’ Kieran said in a low voice.
He bowed his head, looking contrite.
I knew why he was feeling guilty.
