‘It’s yours.’ I pushed the paper at him. ‘It’ll be a nice location for that bed and breakfast. I expect a friends and family discount when I travel to Tarona.’
‘Of course.’ Landon squeezed my hand. ‘Thank you, Amiyah.’
I turned away as tears threatened to overflow.
Conor finally sat down next to Landon.
He snatched up the bottle of wine, filled a glass, raised it to Landon. ‘Drink.’
Landon did.
The two of them kept tossing back one drink after another.
When the bottle was empty, Conor pushed to his feet. ‘You and I, friends?’
‘Friends.’ Landon nodded. ‘Always were, always will be.’
Conor patted then squeezed Landon’s shoulder.
I could tell he had something more to say, but in the end, he just marched out of the room without another word.
Landon stared into his empty glass as tears streamed down his cheeks.
