Wendy deserved that because she insisted on putting herself in that position. It was her fault for being vain. She even stole Xyla's drawing and told the teacher she had drawn it instead of Xyla in elementary school.
Unfortunately for Wendy, the Horton family wasn't easy to fool.
That said, Xyla still pretended to frown and plead on Wendy's behalf.
As for Martha, she secretly felt the situation was unfair to Wendy. Wendy didn't want to cause the Horton family any trouble and was afraid people would think they were mistreating her.
So, she distanced herself from the family and even asked Martha not to tell Elena that she lived with the Horton family while attending classes.

Jacob entered the study and informed Sean about Moira's intentions on the phone. He even went out of his way to ask, "Did Wendy really cook the food from this afternoon?"
