I woke up feeling groggy and had to sit in bed for a long time before I could get a hold of myself. I didn't feel too good but didn't pay much attention to my body. What use was there to worry about myself?
With a hiss, I got out of bed and checked my phone. The first thing that caught my eye was a missed call. My heart skipped a few beats when I saw the caller ID. Marie had called. My hands trembled, and my heart pounded in excitement and horror. This was so unexpected, and I hadn't expected it ever to happen.
I suddenly blamed myself for drinking the previous night and ending up sleeping so heavily that I'd missed the call. I quickly redialed the number and waited for it to connect. My heart was pounding with every second that passed. After a few seconds, I was told I couldn't call the contact. I sighed and threw the phone on the bed. I was still blocked. But why had she called? Had it been a mistake?
