After getting off the call with Lyn, I felt more and more confident that something was wrong. True, Lynn didn't sound like someone who had a hand in her husband's murder, but I also didn't expect her to carry a banner to announce it, even if she did have a hand.
Secondly, how things were piled up on Damian made it increasingly suspicious. Why him? Why was his name mentioned alongside every crime in the past few days? I knew Damian was hurt and he'd become violent, but I didn't picture him as a man capable of these things. And why would he? What would he gain by murdering Dr Oslin?
I've only heard Dr Oslin speaking very fondly of Damian for what it was worth, and he'd always encouraged me to cherish him. I failed to see the motive here.
I sighed when I realized I was coming up with reasons to defend the same man who'd so heartlessly hurt me. He used me and played with my emotions so that he could get back at my family. And for what?
