Chapter 103: Between a Rock and a Hard Place

When I got to my room, I didn’t go to bed again. I shut the door and leaned against it, feeling nauseous. My heart was thumping rapidly, and I felt light-headed. I didn’t know how to process what I’d just heard or the implication it had on me and my safety.
I trusted Taylor and considered him a good friend. I was more than happy to take care of Caleb, and he was a nice man, often giving me advice and encouragement whenever I needed it. He’d been more to me than the random parent of a child I’d met.
Now, I wasn’t sure anymore. What was Taylor hiding from me? Who was he calling, and why was he whispering Damian’s name and mine? What was he up to? All those questions and more burned through my head simultaneously.
I wanted to confront him and damn the fear of what I’d find out, but I reckoned that it wasn’t Taylor I had to confront just yet. I had to talk to Charles first; I had to find out what his connection was to all of this.
