I let out a heavy sigh as I watched Dominic’s car turn the corner and disappear from sight.
The sound was a mix of loneliness and exhaustion—two feelings that had become all too familiar since this whole issue began.
And now, in addition to that burden, there was the weight of keeping an intentional rebellion hidden from my pack.
It was all becoming too much to bear, and I constantly felt like I was going to crash out. But despite all the internal chaos, I couldn’t help but wish I had found a way to kiss him before he left.
Being in his arms, with his lips moving sweetly against mine, was one of the few moments I felt truly free.
I had never wished more intensely for things to get better, but unfortunately, my wishes just weren’t enough. I still had a duty to the people I cared about, and I was determined to perform that duty, even if it meant disobeying a direct order from the council.
