Chapter 1317
Household matters occasionally weighed on Oliver's mind.
But true to his word, James took on the workload without complaint. At first, the sheer number of tasks was overwhelming, and his efficiency suffered. Sometimes, he even had to work overtime.
He completely forgot to pick up Abigail from school twice.
At the end of a long workday, as he handed off documents in Oliver's office, he glanced at his phone and immediately called Abigail.
"Hey, Chubs, are you still waiting for me at school? It looks like it's going to rain soon. Find somewhere to take cover, and I'll pick you up after work."
"No need, James. I took a taxi home."
Abigail had waited for half an hour, but when the sky darkened ominously, she decided to head back on her own.
"I sent you a message on WhatsApp. Didn't you see it?" she asked.
Abigail, always so understanding, showed no hint of disappointment in her voice.
The air was stifling during the summer rainy season, and the sky was overcast.
