Chapter 15 Take Care of Him for a Whole Night
It was never in Madison’s wildest dream to find an unconscious Allen beside his bed.
She did not know what had happened, but he was frowning tightly. His pale face made a grimace of pain. He clenched his fists and held one of them against his chest while clasping tightly at the bed with another.
His phone was on the floor next to the bed, and there were some shards of glass as well.
Apparently, the noises Madison had heard were the sound of his phone and the water glass falling to the floor.
Allen looked weak and vulnerable now—gone was the gloomy and heartless man.
Not only were his eyes tightly shut, but his eyebrows were also deeply furrowed. His handsome face with finely chiseled features was twisted out of shape, and his forehead was slightly filled with beads of sweat. One could imagine how much pain he was suffering right now.
The first thing that came into Madison’s mind was that he deserved it. Putting everything aside, he should be punished for wasting so much food.
However, her professionalism as a caretaker in the past soon got the best of her, and she stopped laughing at his pain.
Madison still could not forget all those harsh comments Allen threw at her, but he had helped her before. Therefore, she decided to step in and help him.
‘I'm helping you now because you helped me in the restaurant the other day even though you said you didn't really want to help me. This way, we're even now.’
With that thought in mind, Madison stepped into the room, picked Allen up from the floor, and called out to him softly, “Mr. Whitlock? Are you alright? Can you hear me?”
She placed her hand on his shoulder, and to her surprise, he had a high fever.
It seemed to her that Allen was in a lot of pain as his entire body was trembling.
Besides, he could not respond to her call at all. His eyes were tightly shut, cold beads of sweat were oozing out of his forehead profusely, and his face became even paler.
Madison had worked as a caretaker in the hospital before. She had a lot of experience in an emergency situation like this and had a professional caretaker certificate.
It took her only a short while to realize what was going on with Allen. She deduced that he was having a stomach ulcer right now.
Madison frowned.
‘He has a bad stomach, yet he still doesn't want to have dinner?’
Madison was rendered speechless when it came to Allen.
The silver lining was he did not vomit blood. Otherwise, they have to rush to the hospital right away.
She placed him on the bed and went downstairs to look for some medicine. However, after searching throughout the entire apartment, she could not find even a single medicine tablet.
Fortunately, there was a 24-hour pharmacy downstairs.
Madison hurriedly went to the pharmacy to buy the medicine for Allen. After returning, she boiled some warm water and fed him the medicine.
Then, she cleaned up all the glass shards and water on the floor before putting his phone back on the table next to his bed.
By right, she should make some chicken soup for Allen to help him heal his gut.
However, she had already crossed the line tonight.
She should leave now if she did not want to incur his wrath.
Seeing that the deep lines of the hard frown on his forehead were loosening, Madison knew that the medicine must have started to work.
“Allen, although you said I shouldn't take it seriously since you helped me at the restaurant the other day because we were disturbing you, I still want to thank you. In any case, we’re even now. I hope you’ll take care of your health in the future. You won’t be this lucky next time. I’m going back to my room now. You get some rest,” Madison said softly as she looked at the man on the bed.
When she finished speaking, she picked up the glass and medicine, switched off the light, and went out of his bedroom gingerly.
After Madison left, the fingers of the man sleeping on the bed with his eyes tightly closed twitched in the darkness.
