Chapter 70 Viper’s Venom
Memorial week, day 6
The fog of the previous night had lifted as the warm, sunny morning rolled in. Or so, it seemed.
The day was basically free. A rest of some sorts, from the hectic event schedule of the past five days, and preparation for the final day of the memorial tomorrow.
There was a large outdoors breakfast for every single person in the Darwin estate. Even the guards and staff took turns partaking of the joyous feast.
Only, this “joy” was superficial.
There was a murder attempt, yesterday, accompanied with two dead bodies, after all. Not to mention the loss of Cara’s baby, and the general unrest of the guests. It was like everyone was faking a smile, while they died of horror on the inside.
Laughter filled the air from the tables arranged in the open garden. Women smiled brightly, in their loose, frilly dresses, flower crowns and large sun hats. Men clinked glasses together, loose shirts flowing in the breeze.
