By the time I came around, there was a ringing in my ears. My head felt fuzzy like someone had stuffed cotton into it and made it into a demolition site. There was something wet at the side of my head and I lifted my heavy hands to it. My fingers came back sticky and stained with blood. I could hear a faint sound like someone was calling my name and I knew it was coming from my phone but I couldn’t find said phone. I tried using my eyes to look around and I saw it on the floor but I couldn’t lean over to get it.
The airbags in the car were deployed and I had to find my way around it to my seatbelt. My fingers shook and it felt like I was in someone else’s body trying to control it but I was finally able to get it off. I tried to push open the door but it was stuck and that was when the magnitude of what happened crashed down on me. I looked around and realized I had crashed straight into a tree. I was a bit grateful because it meant I didn’t go off the cliff.
