The pain in my head was pounding like a drum, each beat sending sharp stabs through my temples. I groaned, my eyes fluttering open to a blur of unfamiliar surroundings. The first thing that registered was the throbbing ache in my head, and the second was the desperate need to know where Emma's unborn child was.
"Where's the child?" I blurted out, my voice hoarse and raspy. Panic clawed at my chest as I struggled to sit up, my surroundings coming into focus. The world swayed, and I felt a firm hand on my shoulder, gently pushing me back down.
"Calm down, Daisy," a voice said, and I turned to see Mason, his eyes filled with concern. His hand lingered on my shoulder, the touch strangely comforting.
"The child, Emma's child," I insisted, my words tumbling out in urgency.
Mason's eyes widened, surprise and something else flickering across his face. "Easy, Daisy. You need to rest. The child is safe with Michael, you don’t have to worry about that."
