Chapter 14
I was walking to where my car was parked when someone honked behind me. I turned to see Gina poking her head out of her car.
It had only been about two weeks since we'd last seen each other, but she seemed to have aged a decade. Her face was tired and haggard. She forced a gentle smile when she saw me. "Let's talk, Xavier."
If she could come all the way to my company, it looked like she wouldn't give up if I didn't speak to her. So, I got into the passenger seat of her car.
She drove out of the parking lot. "Our families go back a long way, Xavier. Stacy's father and I have always thought of you as our son-in-law—"
I cut her off. "Gina, that promise to marry was nothing but a joke between our families. Stacy has never liked me—I know this for a fact."
I tried not to be too blunt and harsh. I didn't want to fall out with the Greene family just yet.
