Chapter 51
"It's me."
A gentle voice broke the silence of the dark room. It was oddly comforting.
The bedside lamp clicked on, casting a soft warm light on his face.
It was Tristan.
As I reached up to wipe my face, I realized that it was wet with tears.
Tristan remained silent. He got up and took a warm towel before gently wiping my face.
"Did you have another bad dream?" he asked. "You were crying just now."
"Did I say anything?" I asked him back.
Tristan looked at me with his dark eyes. "I heard you calling for your parents… and you called out your brother's name as well."
A sharp pain pierced through my heart.
Tristan carefully studied me and asked, "Are you feeling better now?"
I nodded, though still feeling a bit shaken up.
I paused briefly before asking, "Tristan, you knew, didn't you? About my family cutting ties with me."
Tristan appeared to be taken aback by my sudden question. He paused briefly before nodding in response.
