Chapter 68 Goodnight Inn
Emery's return to Clarkbrook Village brought her a long-lost sense of genuine warmth untainted by ulterior motives. She was deeply grateful for Mark's help. He told her not to be so formal, saying he was doing this out of respect for her father, Kevin.
Mark mentioned that they were from the same village and were supposed to take care of each other. He also asked her to call him "Mark" like everyone else.
With her sweet way of talking, Emery kept Mark laughing throughout their journey to Goodnight Inn. When they arrived at the inn, she looked up and found that it was a three-story inn built within a square courtyard.
For the convenience of guests, there was a vending machine by the door. The romantic and cozy environment suggested the inn owner had a good sense of aesthetics. Looking up at the rooms lit by the courtyard lights, Emery noticed that most of them were dark.
She wondered if the guests were still out having fun or if the rooms were simply vacant.
