Chapter 8 Take Care Of Anna

Margaret snorted coldly, and she spoke rudely to me, “He’s just an ungrateful brat, wasting all his grandfather’s efforts.” “Just keep your mouth shut!” Steven stared at her, and then he glanced at me helplessly. “It’s late now, so let your grandfather rest in peace. You better go back home earlier too!” “Alright! Thanks, Uncle Steven.” Steven and Margaret were around 50 years old. They did not have any children, but they possessed some of the Blake Corporation’s shares, and they were living a peaceful life. Despite her foul-mouth, Margaret was not that mean. I watched them leave, and I felt empty when I stood in front of Master Blake’s grave. He had left me, so it seemed like that was the end of Curtis and my relationship. The wind would stop blowing, and the rain would dry out as well. The sun would set, and in the end, I would still lose Curtis. “Grandpa, please take care of yourself. I’ll come to see you again after some time.” I stood in front of his grave and bowed to him. Yet, I got stunned when I turned around, about to leave. When did Curtis arrive? Curtis was all black, and his expression was dull and cold. His slender figure was just not far behind me. His dark eyes were deep like an abyss, resting on Master Blake’s grave. His gaze was so deep that I could not feel any emotion from it. Upon realizing I looked back, Curtis withdrew his gaze and spoke in a low-pitched tone, “Let’s go!” Was Curtis… here to give me a lift back home? However, I stopped Curtis before he turned around. “Curtis, your grandfather’s gone, so you’d just let it go. You know, he’d given you a lot…” When I saw Curtis staring at me with his frigid eyes, I stopped speaking, and I did not know what to do at that very moment. Initially, I thought Curtis was going to be mad at me, yet he just walked away without saying a word. The sky was getting darker when we got out of the cemetery. The driver who was supposed to take back home left earlier because Curtis was there. Hence, I could only return to the villa with Curtis. He started the engine after we got in the car. It was dead silent along the journey, and I was pinching my fingers. I wanted to ask him about Anna’s condition, but words got stuck in my throat every time I saw his gloomy expression. After some time, I still could not help but voice out, “How’s Miss Blunt?” I did not push her, yet she fell from the stairs in front of me, after all. “Screech…” The car stopped all of a sudden, and because of the speed, I was thrown forward. Nonetheless, I was held down on the waist before I could react, and I sat back on my seat with half of Curtis’ body pressing on me. He was staring at me with his dark eyes, and his pupils were exuding a sharp and freezing aura. I flinched when I smelled danger and uttered, “Curtis…” “What did you think would happen?” Curtis interrupted. His tone was unfriendly when he spoke to me sarcastically, “Julia, do you really think that I won’t divorce you just because of the wooden box that my grandfather gave you?” My heart dropped. Curtis was really incredible as he had already known about it just after a few hours. “I didn’t push her.” I suppressed the bitterness in my heart, but I felt funny when I looked him in his eyes. “Curtis, I don’t know what’s inside the box that your grandfather gave me. I never thought of keeping our marriage because of it. Fine! Since you wanted to leave so badly, I agree to a divorce, and we’ll settle our divorce tomorrow at the City Hall.” The sky was completely dark at that moment. The sound of the wind blowing outside the car and the heavy rain hitting against the windows made the tense atmosphere even more silent and creepy. Curtis seemed to be surprised at the fact that I agreed to divorce him. However, at that moment, he lifted his lips and said, “Anna’s still in the hospital. Are you planning to throw everything behind by agreeing to divorce now?” “What do you want me to do?” Yes, his beloved was still lying in the hospital because of me, so how could he let me off his hook that easily? “You’ll be taking care of her from tomorrow onward.” He sat up straight, and his thin fingers were on the steering wheel as his gaze became thoughtful.
