Chapter 12 Thugs Causing Trouble
Too many things have happened lately. I did not know how to handle them, so I decided to meet up with Emily.
At Flow Bar.
It was still early, so not many people were there yet. Emily ordered a cocktail, passed it to me, and asked, “Why did you want to come here at this hour? Did something happen?”
Watching the hot pole dancer on the stage as the loud music and cheers mixed together, I shook my head. Putting down the cocktail that I was holding by my mouth, I looked at her and said, “It’s nothing. I just wanted to spend some time here.”
“Curtis bullied you again?” Emily said, feeling a little speechless, “if you really can’t go on with him, then get divorced as soon as possible. With your looks, what man can’t you get? Why take care of that iceberg for a lifetime? Aren’t you tired?”
Emily had always been outspoken, and we had been friends through ups and downs. She had always lived an honest life, so what she could not stand the most was my reluctance when dealing with Curtis.
I took out the ultrasound report from my purse and handed it to her. I then said helplessly, “Even if I have a good appearance and figure, do you think a man will accept me if I’m carrying a burden with me?”
Emily immediately snatched away the ultrasound report from my hand. She looked at it from top to bottom as she widened her eyes and said, “6 weeks? Isn’t there no intimacy between you and Curtis? So where did this baby come from?”
“Remember when I got drunk last month, and Curtis came to fetch me?” I snatched back the report from her hands and said.
Emily widened her eyes, feeling surprised and speechless. After a moment, she said, “What are you planning to do now?”
I shook my head. At this point, I was also feeling lost.
“Get an abortion!” Emily said, “You and Curtis were never on the same page. Now that Master Blake has passed away, something is bound to happen if you keep this child. So, you should get an abortion and divorce him. Life is long, so it’s impossible for you to just love one person in your whole life.”
I was in a daze as I saw that more and more people were in the bar. I then looked at Emily and said, “Go serve the customers. I’ll stay here for a while.”
Seeing that I would not listen to a word she said, Emily did not say anything else. She just rolled her eyes at me and changed my cocktail into juice.
The bar gradually became more lively as the night fell. Emily became busier, so she did not have time to talk to me. I then found a corner and just sat there absent-mindedly.
Watching the people with alcohol under the bright lights, I fell into a daze.
I did not react for a while when something happened at the bar. I only returned to my senses once I heard piercing screams and noise.
At some point, some thugs had come into the bar. They were surrounding Emily and causing trouble. Lots of customers left, and the loud music was also turned off.
I was sitting at a corner under dim lighting, so it was not easy to notice me. I saw that the thugs surrounding Emily had rods in their hands.
It was clear that they were trying to cause trouble. However, Emily stayed calm. She looked at them and said, “Are you all here to cause trouble or have a good time?”
“I’m here to cause trouble! Little lady, if you dare, why don’t you come have some fun with my bros and me?” the leader of the thugs said with a mocking smile as he reached out his hand to touch Emily’s face.
Crash! Before his dirty hands could touch Emily, I immediately threw the glass of orange juice in my hands toward him.
The thug held his hand as it suddenly got hit and said, “Who the f*ck hit me?!”
“Me!” I got up from my seat and walked to them as I looked at Emily. She looked at me in worry and said, “Why are you still here?”
I was speechless. It seemed like Emily thought that I had left just now.
I rolled my eyes at her and said, “Where would I be if I wasn’t here?”
“You idiot!” Emily said as she moved me behind her to protect me. She then whispered, “Find a chance to sneak away when they fight later!”
I knew that she was worried about me, so I did not say much. I just looked at that thug who got hit just now and said, “Do you think it’s appropriate for a gang of men to bully a little lady?”
