The car raced through the dimly lit streets, weaving between traffic as Lucas drove with a single-minded focus. The evidence they had retrieved from the warehouse lay on the seat beside Ava, a messy stack of blueprints, maps, and documents. It was all they needed to expose Collins once and for all—if they could get it to the right people in time.
Ava’s heart pounded in her chest, adrenaline coursing through her veins. The fight in the warehouse had been close—too close. They managed to escape with the evidence, but Collins’s men wouldn’t stop until they were caught.
Lucas glanced at her, his face tense. “Are you okay?”
Ava nodded, though her hands were still shaking. “Yeah. … we need to make sure this counts. We can’t let Collins slip away again.”
Lucas’s jaw tightened. “We won’t. We have enough now to bury him, but we need to act fast. He’ll be preparing his next move.”
