“Mark is not picking up.”
Allison was standing by the huge mirror in her room. She was fully dressed for the wedding, while Elizabeth was standing by the drawer next to her bed, fixing her sandal.
Elizabeth’s choice of dressing was a wonder compared to that of the rest of the maidens waiting in the living room. She was clad in a red dinner gown that gave her a foxy appearance. All weddings are husband-hunting occasions for young ladies, and Elizabeth is not an exception.
Allison, on the other hand, was twice as beautiful. Her white wedding gown was a glow of lace and gems, and her earrings were some of the company’s best. The ones she designed herself.
“Maybe he is being superstitious like many other grooms on their wedding day.” Elizabeth suggested it and sat on the bed. “They said the groom and the bride should keep their cool till they meet at the altar; otherwise, they incur bad luck.”
