Chapter 8

The shame and trauma from four years ago was resurfacing. She just wanted to run away and hide from everything. Peter stroked the underside of the bed with two hands to find an even distribution of weight. With a swift and violent force the two meter wide bed was lifted up, revealing the scared woman from underneath. Samantha was exposed, she felt like a helpless rabbit being hunted down by a wolf. She ran away on all fours, passing by Peter. The back of her neck was suddenly stepped on. Before she could scream in pain, she was dragged by her hair and she was then slammed against the wall. Her back hit the wall, and she then fell heavily to the ground. Even though the floor was covered with luxurious, soft, cashmere carpets, she was still being beaten and no amount of padding could protect her from him. She coughed up blood on the floor which went nicely with the red wedding decorations. Peter paced over to her, exuding an extremely dangerous and contemptuous aura from his body. The candle light from earlier made him look like a demon but now he is something far worse than that. He condescendingly stared at her, disdainful, mocking, and contemptuous. She was an insect in his eyes. "You evil bastard! Why are you doing this to me?" Samantha raised her head, her beautiful face was maliciously covered with heavy makeup, and it was as disgusting as a monkey's ass. Peter just wanted to give her a lesson and hurry out, he immediately changed his mind as he heard this. He lifted up his spotless leather shoes, and he stepped on her neck. He was smiling sadistically, truly, he was worse than a demon. Samantha's mouth kept pouring out blood, her eyes stared at the tall man with an equal amount of hatred. "My boyfriend is a police inspector. If you kill me, he will definitely take revenge on you." She would've been fine if she had just taken it. When she tried to threaten him he grabbed her by the hair again and dragged her outside. Peter's family has been in power for many years. His father and the minister of security are good friends and he himself was a Special Forces soldier for two years. What can a lowly inspector do to him? "Ah, it hurts, it hurts! Cassandra! Why do you hate me so much?" Samantha was dragged across cobblestone ground, her clothes were torn up, her skin had gashes and bruises, and her body was writhing in pain. But the burning pain did not last long. Samantha, who already had little strength left, was dragged into the back garden and was kicked into the pond. The night was cold and the water bit her harshly. Samantha didn't know how to swim, and she fluttered with her hands and feet, "Help, help...please." The ice water was started getting into her lungs, it was excruciatingly painful. She gave up calling for help, and she struggled to get to shore. Before she could even set foot onto solid ground, she was kicked back into the pond Samantha endured the pain and she continued to flop to shore, she climbed up again, but this time she was kicked even farther and she drifted to the center of the pond. "How could you do this?" For the sake of his dignity and reputation she must die, but her three-year-old is waiting for her, she can't possibly die now. She has already lived a peaceful four years, she held onto those precious memories and struggled through. The ice-cold water plunged into her pores, the effect of the green medicine has faded, and she was able to think straighter, but she hasn't figured out how she was framed. She looked around the courtyard, the back garden was bigger than a public park. This was beyond the reach of any ordinary person. She vaguely guessed something. The lamp by the pond emitted a soft light, and withered lotus leaves fell on the surface of the water, they both created a melancholy atmosphere. Samantha took a lotus petal and wiped the makeup off her face, she climbed onto a few rocks in the middle of the pond and decided to wait there for Jonathan's rescue. Peter actually kept exotic pets like pythons, crocodiles and lizards in this pond and they all stayed near these rocks in the center. They smelled the blood that was coming from Samantha and they all approached her with animalistic instinct. Peter sat leisurely on a white bench by the pond, he had poured himself a glass of red wine. "President Xiao, I heard that the cold is especially harsh on women. It is the root cause of disease and infertility," Lian felt compassion and he leaned over to plead to him. "Can't you at least give her a chance to explain?" Peter squinted at his confidant, unmoved. "Let her be infertile. We'd be doing society a favor if she can't pass her genes." Said with no pity whatsoever. "But President Xiao, she is still your fiancée's sister, she's still your sister-in-law." With a smile on his humble face, Lian repeatedly pleaded with his boss who was about to make a big mistake killing Samantha like this, "Cassandra is a kind lady. If you can't be peaceful about this, then just let Cassandra deal with her." Peter rolled his eyes coldly, and he looked deeply at the thin figure in the pond, a complex emotion stirred up in his heart. After a few seconds of silence, he suddenly showed kindness and he ordered Lian, "Give her to me." Just as he finished speaking, he was followed by a stern scream from Samantha. Peter stood up quickly, he was seriously concerned this time. He saw her take off her heavy headdress and she threw it at something that was approaching, "Go away! Don't come over here!" But the animal kept getting closer.
