Chapter 3 Children's Games
At Miller's.
"Bang!"
Regina was violently pushed away. Her knees were faintly oozing with blood. Her hair was a jumbled mess, and she looked wretchedly messy.
Regina gritted her teeth and stood up, ignoring the pain in her knee as the door closed behind her.
Time passed.
Regina had been waiting for an hour at the door. Her legs had been trembling for a long time from exhaustion, but no one had opened the door.
"Click."
The door was suddenly pushed open.
"I didn't see anyone standing at the door. What's the deal with you visiting the Millers?"
Caroline's eyes were filled with smugness. She wrapped her hands around her fingernails, which were painted in an undried coral red that glittered in the light.
"Where the hell is she?"
Regina ignored the fact that her hair was strewn and yelled at Caroline.
"I met Marina, and I told her about your happy story about sacrificing yourself to marry Noah for her medical expenses."
Caroline's eyes were filled with venom, and even her words seemed to be tainted with it.
"I'm not sure why her face darkened when she heard it. She was constantly coughing. It was clearly a good marriage that everyone envied."
"What did you say?"
Regina rushed forward, clasping Caroline's wrist "What are you thinking? You are well aware that she cannot be stimulated..."
"Because I want her to die."
Her exquisite face was covered in a cruel smile. Her voice had a venomous tone to it.
After hearing the words.
Regina's heart felt as if it had collapsed into an abyss. Her face was pale, and her heart was racing. She was terrified of being alone in the world.
She had a painful hatred for the person in front of her. Her eyes were reddish at the bottom and filled with unfathomable dread.
"I will only allow you to visit her if you finish your marriage with him."
"Fine..." Regina tightened her hand. The sharp nails punctured her palm, and she was unable to feel the pain.
She felt an uneasy twinge in her chest even before she said the words. She passed out in a trance.
The light in the morning was brilliant.
Regina was resting sideways on the bed's side. She looked at the person on the hospital bed in shock when she felt movement.
She was pallid and snoozing heavily.
"I can accomplish anything if you're okay, Mom."
Regina said quietly. Her brows were raised in a smile.
She intended to go to the breakfast store outside the hospital to get two fresh porridge and yogurt in case Marina woke up and needed to have breakfast.
"Ah!"
Regina was concerned Marina would get worried if she couldn't see her, so she went too quickly and didn't notice someone in front of her. She slammed into the person in front of her.
"Are you injured? I'm sorry."
Regina apologized and picked up the medical records on the ground, which she handed to the individual who had been knocked down.
A crisp, beautiful voice sounded from behind her as she turned to leave.
"Wait a minute, are you Regina?"
Regina came to a halt, her eyes filled with uncertainty. She turned around and raised her head to face the individual in front of her. Her skin was smooth and white, and her demeanor was refined.
"My name is Bess Martin. I ran into you that day. Are you going to marry my brother?"
Her remarks were flowing with purity.
"Don't be a moron. I have no plans to marry..."
Regina took a breather. She pursed her lips and swallowed the remainder of her words when she remembered her mother, who was lying in the hospital bed.
"If you want my help, you can look for me," Bess said, turning her crystal eyes as if she understood something.
After saying that, she gave Regina a business card.
Regina tightened her grip on the small business card. It displayed a series of numbers.
Three days later.
Regina sat on the wide soft bed, looking in the mirror. She had sparkling eyes, flawless skin, and delicate makeup.
And a holy wedding dress.
Regina bit her bottom lip. Her eyes were filled with reluctance at the bottom.
Everyone thought that a woman's happiest day was when she entered the hall of marriage. But she was about to marry a psychopath.
She didn't even know if her life was secure.
Her palms were drenched in sticky, moist sweat as she gazed down at the business card she had been clutching in her hand.
Regina's eyes glowed with determination. With trepidation, she took out her cell phone and dialed a succession of numbers.
Soon.
A knock came at the door.
"You did call me," a young girl in a dress stated as she walked in.
"I'm not interested in getting married. I don't want to marry a lunatic."
Regina stated it emphatically.
She had enough money to transport her mother to another place for treatment.
"I can assist you. The room's entry is guarded by bodyguards. I'll assist you in distracting them when the celebration begins at eight o'clock in the evening. Then I'll make you a set of servant's clothes. You can discover a way to escape."
Bess smiled with arched eyebrows.
"Why are you helping me?"
"Probably because I don't want to watch innocent people perish, and I believe in my vision." Bess said with a smile.
"Thank you." Regina said gratefully.
It was eight o'clock.
In the spacious room, Regina fidgeted. She lowered her gaze to a spotless white maid's dress she had already changed into.
The phone she was holding suddenly rang, and it was a text message from Bess.
"I've lured the bodyguards away, come on!"
Regina's heart was racing and her blood was rushing all over her body. The sound of a collision could be heard behind her.
"Ouch...it hurts!"
A man in a black suit emerged from the closet. In pain, he rubbed his chin. His beautiful face was wrinkled up like a child's.
"Are you the lovely sister mentioned by the butler? Are you the bride who's going to play children's games with me?"
Noah giggled.
"No, I'm not the bride you're referring to. You're married to another lovely sister. I'll fetch her for you."
Regina lied calmly.
"No, I want you."
Noah's eyes shone with a trace of cunning that vanished in a flash.
Regina smirked a little. A demented adult might be challenging to cope with.
"I have to go now, bye."
Regina examined the large alarm clock. The clock was ticking faster and faster.
Regina collided with a hard and firm chest shortly after opening the door. Her brow felt a little painful.
When she looked up, she was met with a set of dark eyes.
"Mandel... Why are you here?"
Her eyes were wide with terror. She took a step back, her throat refusing to stop swallowing.
Mandel's eyes narrowed slightly. The flash of white he noticed was a wedding gown spread out on the bed. His expression darkened, dismal, and horrifyingly.
"So, you're my younger brother's wife."
Noah abruptly jumped out and stopped in front of Regina, "No, she's my nanny who makes little desserts for me!"
Regina's eyes were wide with surprise. She raised her head and returned her gaze to Noah.
The hint of sharpness floating under his eyes was clearly not a madman or a fool would have.
