Chapter 3
Nash didn't answer, and he wasn't his wife. How could he possibly know the nature of their relationship?
Samuel didn't intend to hear any useful answers from him, and said quietly, "Get out."
Nash took two steps and turned back. "Mr. Zhou, the necklace customized in Paris has arrived, and it is now..."
The necklace was originally a gift for Mrs. Zhou's third wedding anniversary, but now it was useless.
"Throw it away."
There was indifference in his tone.
"All right," Nash said.
After Nash left, Samuel picked up the divorce agreement again, and as his eyes fell on the signature, he couldn't help but sneer and furrow his brows.
How could a woman who sacrificed herself to play a bitter trick, pull his sleeve at the Twilight Club to ask him to save her, and then force him to get married under the guise of pregnancy? She has a vicious mind and would do everything to achieve her goal. How could she suddenly grow a conscience?
He couldn't understand it.
Samuel crumpled the paper in his hand into a ball and threw it into the trash can.
...
Meghan waited at home for several days, but heard nothing from Samuel. As always, the text messages she sent to Samuel just fell into the abyss and were left unanswered.
On the first day, she texted: Did you receive the divorce agreement? I have already signed it. If you have time, let me know, so we can go to the Civil Affairs Bureau and complete the formalities.
She was generous, considerate, gentle and well-behaved.
On the second day: Hello? Did you see my messages? Do you have any dissatisfaction with the divorce agreement?
She was being cautious and was testing out the waters boldly.
On the third day: Mr. Zhou, I know that you are very busy at work, but can you please take time out of your busy schedule to divorce me?
She was restrained, conservative, and persevering.
On the fourth day: Mr. Zhou, do you want to stay married? If you really don't want to see me, then you should go through the formalities as soon as possible then you won't have to deal with me in the future. Thank you.
There was no need to put up with him anymore.
So, on the fifth day, when she was about to compose her message, a notification popped up on her screen, and she read, "The other party has turned on friend verification, and you are not his friend yet. Please send a friend verification request first. After the other party has accepted the verification, you can chat."
She couldn't help but laugh.
He was such a jerk. How dare he block her?
Meghan immediately put down her phone and got up. She then made her way to the Twilight Club.
However, she seemed to be out of luck, because instead of finding Samuel, she met his next wife instead.
Originally, Maggie had a dinner appointment with a friend. As soon as she walked through the door, she saw Meghan standing there. She smiled disdainfully, walked over in her high heels. There was a hint of mockery in her tone when she spoke, "You didn't come here looking for an apology, did you?"
Meghan glanced at her lightly and said nothing.
When Maggie saw her distressed appearance, she became even more enthusiastic. "Why are you so shameless? I told you that I was pregnant and you still dare keep the name Mrs. Zhou. Don't you know how hideous and desperate you look when you're this obsessed?"
"No matter how hideous I may be, it's still not as hideous as a mistress who destroys someone's marriage."
Meghan's light and fluttering sentence made Maggie froze for several seconds before reacting, and paled with anger, she raised her hand to slap her.
Meghan intercepted her wrist and gave her a crisp slap without hesitation. "I just played nice last week out of respect to your pregnancy, but that doesn't mean you can just show off your pregnancy in front of me over and over again. Why, does doing so give you a sense of superiority since you're just a mistress?"
Meghan's slap attracted the attention of many people around her.
Maggie's face turned red in embarrassment for an instant. She wanted to pull her hand back, but she couldn't match the strength of Meghan. She said loudly, "Stop spewing nonsense, I am not a mistress! It's you who are shameless for keeping the name Mrs. Zhou when Samuel is clearly disgusted with you!"
"Don't you think there is a logical problem with what you said? No matter if I am shameless, I am still Samuel's legitimate wife. By the way, I also want to thank you because the child in your stomach is evidence to his infidelity, and if you keep getting on my nerves, I'm going to sue the both of you, so don't test my patience!"
Maggie's eyes widened incredibly. "You wouldn't dare!"
"Try it."
It was almost August and the weather was hot. However, the male voice from behind seemed to have been soaked in the cold river during winter, and the coldness made the hair on the back stand upright.
Meghan was startled, and slowly let go of the hand holding Maggie.
Maggie immediately ran to Samuel's side, her hand covered her face as tears rolled out of her eyes.
Samuel's gaze fell on her. He raised his head to look at Meghan, his eyes were cold, and there was no warmth in his voice. "Do you want me to introduce you to a lawyer?"
Meghan pulled the corner of her lips. "No need."
What a joke. How could she afford to hire a lawyer to fight a lawsuit that wasn't only time-consuming and laborious, but also involved herself?
She just said that to scare Maggie.
Samuel took a step toward her, tilted his head slightly, and said in a voice that only the two of them could hear, "So this was why you were so confident in filing for a divorce, huh?"
