Chapter 13

I couldn't sleep after our talk. Alpha Marcus was unbelievable. Why would he put his trust in me just like that? Two days ago I was still a runaway wolf, but now I could have a place and a job too? Lying down on my bed, I had to painfully pinch my arm to make sure that this wasn't a dream because this feels like one. But this was real. Alpha Marcus is real. The next day, I woke up late. I panicked because I momentarily forgot that I was in a room inside Alpha Marcus' house. When I got out of the guest room that he let me use temporarily I saw him standing on the balcony, talking to Gil without a shirt on. That almost made me squeal in surprise. When they saw me, Alpha Marcus signaled to me to come over, which I did. "How was your sleep?" he asked as soon as I reached them. I couldn't look at him because he was shirtless, so I stared into the view of the fields from the balcony. It was foggy even in broad daylight, which made me think that I might be in a place on a higher altitude
