Alana’s POV.
I was right in the middle of a scene, trying to stay focused on my character when my phone started buzzing in my pocket. Once the scene wrapped up, I quickly pulled out my phone and noticed two missed calls from Alec. A series of text messages followed, so I decided to return his call.
"Hey, is everything alright?" I inquired, pacing around the parking lot. It was the only spot where I could find some privacy to talk.
"Yeah, everything's fine. Just something came up, and I have to head to Denver," Alec replied, and a slight frown formed on my face. I had a fleeting thought that maybe he was planning a surprise visit and his schedule had unexpectedly changed. This was the first time his commitments clashed with mine, and it worried me.
"Oh, you won't be able to make it?" I asked, trying not to sound disappointed. I knew how demanding Alec's job was, and he had never let me down before. This must be a one-time thing.
