Ares glared at Alger coldly and subtly.
Knowing the man’s personality, I quickly and gently push Alger away.
“I’m fine. I made it back in one piece.”
Alger sized me up with his teary eyes and then noticed my sprained ankle.
“Your ankle…” He extended his hand but was afraid to hurt me, so his hand froze mid-air.
I shook my bandaged ankle and said nonchalantly, “I fell. It’s no big deal. I’ll be better in a few days.”
Alger pursed his lips, not believing me. Then, he looked at Ares, who was also hurt.
“Weren’t you with Aimee? Why didn’t you protect her?”
Here we go again… I held my forehead helplessly. Why would Alger share the same thoughts as Mars? Did they really think Ares was almighty? I was lucky enough that he could pull me up from the river with his injury.
