I didn’t buy into his so-called repentance. For all I knew, it could be an impulsive thought, or he was just trying to find an excuse to stab me in the chest again later.
“You’re the one I owe an apology to, so why should I repent at the church? I’m not asking for your forgiveness either. I just don’t want to see you upset, and some things must be made clear eventually.”
“Yeah? In that case, have you made it clear?”
Ares simply chuckled softly, which felt more like a helpless sigh.
Not all things could be made clear; even he knew that.
We didn’t speak further as he carried me back to Lush Town. When he knocked on the church’s door, Lucan was the one who welcomed us back.
“Aimee, you’re finally back!”
Excited, Lucan attempted to rush up to me but stopped when he saw me on Ares’ back. He asked with concern, “Aimee, are you hurt?”
