Chapter 6

The year that grandma had picked Anna up, it was very cold. She had raised her alone, and had taught her acupuncture. If it weren't for grandma, she wouldn’t be in this world. Grandma had given her a second life. Anna’s knuckles white as she grasped the phone in her hand. Because of anger, she trembled uncontrollably. Just then, there was a gentle knock on the door. "Miss Qin, are you awake?" Anna sorted out her emotions and calmed herself down. For the sake of her grandma, she needed to do as she was told. Until she found a way to escape, that was. "Please come in." A middle-aged woman came in with a tray. "The old lady asked me to come and see you. Please, put on your clothes. Everyone is here." Anna was startled. Then she watched as the middle-aged woman walk towards the wardrobe, and take out a long skirt, a pair of shoes, and a set of accessories from inside. "These are all for you." Wasn’t this a bit too much? Was she really going to wear this just to meet an old woman? But this family seemed rich, and so it was probably normal for them to pay attention to their appearance. Anna didn't say anything, and calmly changed into the clothes and shoes she was given. She rarely dressed up, always choosing to wear plain trousers and flat shoes. At the age of twenty, most girls have begun to blossom into women. Anna changed into the clothes prepared by Chu's family, and she instantly looked radiant. Standing in front of the mirror, she could hardly believe what she saw looking back at her. "Miss Qin, you have good facial features and clear skin! Such a beautiful girl!" the middle-aged servant praised her. Anna pursed her lips, not daring to let the old lady wait too long, "Let's go." Anna arrived in the magnificent hall and found that the hall was already full of people. She was under the impression that she was just seeing Mrs. Chu. There were several media reporters nearby. Since she appeared, the camera shutters have been clicking nonstop. The old lady sat in the middle. Her hair was gray, and she was smiling warmly and waving at her. "Come on, let me introduce you to everyone.” She addressed the people around her. “This is my granddaughter-in-law. Our new young lady in the Chu family, Anna!" The reporters quickly took pictures of Anna and greeted her. "Hello, Mrs. Chu." This really shocked Anna. Fortunately, she quickly recovered, thinking about the threat of her foster mother, secretly squeezed her fingers, and walked towards the old lady who waved at her. "Child, don't be afraid." Margarita Song-Chu thought she was nervous, holding her hand encouragingly, "I'm Louie’s grandmother, and I'll be your grandmother too, from now on." Looking at the old woman's loving face, Anna thought of her grandma in a daze, and her heart warmed and calmed down. The old lady introduced her to the people next to her one by one. "This is your father-in-law Carlie Chu, and your mother-in-law Catherine Liu. She is a good person, but she her requirements for her children are too high." Anna walked up to the two of them and greeted them softly. "Mr. and Mrs. Chu." Grandma laughed, "We’re family now, child." Anna took the hint and stiffly addressed her new parents-in-law. "Father, Mother..." Mr. Chu nodded. His eyes seemed kind. Catherine Liu's well-maintained face didn't have any expression on it, she just mumbled a few words. "And these are your uncles and aunts..." Mrs. Song-Chu continued to introduce everyone. Anna repeated everyone’s names. She did her best to be obedient, trying to please the old lady. Suddenly, she felt a hostile pair of eyes scanning her. Margarita Song-Chu raised her voice, "Trixie, come meet your sister-in-law!" Anna turned to look at where the old lady was looking. A delicate, beautiful young girl walked out from behind the crowd with an unhappy expression. When she passed by Anna, she contemptuously said in a soft voice. "You’re a nobody. What makes you think you're worthy to share this house with me?" Anna’s face didn’t change at all. She didn't exactly ask to enter the Chu family's house, but was tricked by her adoptive parents into this situation. Trixie Chu came to her grandmother and said coquettishly. "Grandma, even if you're anxious for e a new granddaughter-in-law, you can't just bring just any homeless person you see on the street into the house and give her our name. Besides, my brother hasn't come back yet!" Margarita Song-Chu withdrew her hand. "Come on, don't you know your brother?” She snapped at the young girl. “Who knows, maybe he’ll regret the marriage again." That incident two years ago had nearly given Margarita Song-Chu’s a heart attack. "It's rare that he took the initiative to find someone. Since he had given her the token, Anna is the Chu family's new young lady!" Margarita Song-Chu looked at Anna with satisfaction, "This girl is so cute, I just love her!" When Trixie Chu heard this, she stomped out, glaring at Anna as she left. Turning her head to her parents, "Dad, mom, take a look at her..." The eyes of Carlie Chu and his wife were the same: This matter should follow the old lady's intention. Upon seeing this, Trixie Chu was so angry that she declared, "Whatever, I don't like her. She cannot be my sister-in-law!" She turned her head and left. At that moment, Louie Chu and his assistant arrived at Chu Mansion. "Are you sure that she’s arrived?" Louie Chu confirmed as he strode in. Though he’s always been calm, the thought of seeing "her" soon made his heart beat faster. Hector Wei said. "Yes, the old lady picked up Miss Chloe early in the morning, and specially invited reporters to announce your marriage."
