Chapter 5: Holding On
Eden just couldn't understand, why wasn't she taking care of herself at such a time?
Facing Eden's anger, Sarina bit her lip, still insisting, "I'm really fine, I know my body."
Of course, she couldn't go to the hospital. If she did, wouldn't the matter of the child be exposed?
She knew that to Eden, she was insignificant at best, just a pet to be kept.
If he found out she was pregnant, he would probably find a way to make her get rid of it.
In front of creatures like them, her Edentity was as tiny as an ant.
Just as Eden was about to get angry, Sivia stopped him. Her tone was gentle as she comforted him, "Eden, don't blame her. Maybe she just doesn't want to go to the hospital, after all, we don't like the smell of hospitals, do we?"
Sivia's words reminded Sarina of when she was injured before. After Eden took her to the hospital, she came out quickly, even warning her not to get hurt again.
She was touched at first, until she heard Eden's cold tone.
"The smell of disinfectant in hospitals bothers my sensitive nose."
Since then, even if she got sick and went to the hospital, she would take a bath afterwards to avoid Eden smelling the scent.
The car suddenly stopped, and Sarina almost hit the seat in front of her.
After coming to a halt, Sarina reached out to open the door, but the next moment, Eden stopped her.
Grabbing her arm, Eden's tone was somewhat angry as he demanded, "What do you plan to do? Just tough it out all day? Do you want to die?"
Sarina lowered her eyes, a layer of moisture forming at the corners, she bit her lip, saying nothing.
The atmosphere in the car grew tense, and Sivia reached out to pat Eden's hand, urging him to let go. She glanced around and then said.
"Why don't we just go to a friend of mine? He runs a small clinic, and we get along well."
Hearing Sivia's words, Eden's eyes darkened suddenly, his voice becoming heavier, "A clinic? You get along well with him?"
Sivia's expression froze for a moment, but she quickly recovered, looking at Eden with even more affection in her eyes.
"Don't worry, he may run a clinic, but he's very skilled. Do you doubt what I'm saying?"
Looking at her, Eden shook his head, "No, it's just..."
He didn't doubt Sivia, it's just that he was somewhat surprised. How could a werewolf run a clinic? He couldn't stand the smell of disinfectant alone.
Sivia's eyes brightened as if she understood Eden's thoughts. She patted his hand and said softly, "You misunderstood, he's not like us, and he knows about my Edentity."
Hearing Sivia's words, Eden's brows relaxed slightly.
But Sarina's gaze fell on the hands of the two of them touching, and her eyes dimmed instantly, a sourness rising in her heart, swallowing her up.
Finally, she looked away.
Sivia's cheeks flushed, and she glanced back at Sarina, her lips curling up, "Let's go, I'll take you there."
The next moment, Eden started the car, glancing at Sarina's state through the rearview mirror, his eyes filled with a dangerous aura.
Sarina looked out the window, the scenery changing constantly, but her mood remained low.
Thinking about her stubbornness just now, compared to Sivia, would it only make Eden more upset?
Arriving at the clinic, Sivia helped Sarina inside, softly asking, "How do you feel now? Still feeling uncomfortable?"
Sivia carried a unique fragrance, not pungent but rather comforting.
Sivia leaned in slightly, and Sarina scrutinized her features more closely, unable to help but sigh.
Deep features, bright eyes, delicate skin, like a masterpiece of God's craftsmanship.
Such a beautiful person, and also of the same kind as Eden, it was no surprise that Eden would choose her.
Before she could finish her thought, a man in a white coat came out. Sivia briefly explained the situation to him, and the man nodded, then turned his gaze to Sarina's face.
"Hello, I'm Alec. Judging by your appearance, you must have a fever. Come in, I'll take your temperature."
He reached out to help Sarina, and Eden happened to catch this scene, his eyes showing signs of irritation.
The thermometer's reaction required a moment, and Sivia started to introduce, "Alec, this is my friend, Eden, of the same kind as me."
Her gaze toward Eden was extremely gentle.
Alec raised his eyebrows, nodding, "So you're of the same kind. No wonder."
Seeing Alec's somewhat playful expression, Sivia's ears turned slightly red. She deliberately said, "What nonsense are you talking about, Eden? This is my human friend, Alec."
Eden politely nodded and heard Alec ask, "I heard that wolves have only one mate for life. Have you found yours?"
Sivia hurriedly stopped him, her eyes unusually bright, "Alec! For us, finding a mate is a sacred act. How can you ask such a question?"
As she spoke, Eden's eyes involuntarily glanced at Sarina.
She sat there, eyes indifferent, her face flushed, her lips moist, just sitting there motionless, yet she seemed like the most perfect painting in the world.
Eden's expression turned ugly, irritation filled his eyes. Sivia thought it was because Alec's words offended him and hurriedly apologized.
He just waved his hand, not saying anything more.
A few minutes later, Sarina took the thermometer out.
Seeing the number on it, Alec frowned, "This fever is too high. Let me give you some medicine."
But he was met with strong opposition from Sarina, who shook her head, refusing, "I don't want to take medicine."
She was pregnant now and couldn't take medicine randomly.
But to unknowing eyes, she seemed to be making trouble for no reason.
Alec glanced at her, silent for a while, then said, "Then lie down and rest first. Let me get some ice packs for you, at least to lower your body temperature."
With that, he went out to prepare, and Sivia followed to help.
In the spacious room, there were only the two of them left.
Eden looked at Sarina, his eyes gradually becoming deep, emitting a muffled grunt.
He didn't understand, what was this woman trying to do to herself?
Sarina knew that this was his way of expressing dissatisfaction.
She turned her head, feeling extremely uncomfortable all over, her throat a little dry.
But she didn't have the strength to pour herself a glass of water now, so she could only endure it.
At this moment, she heard Eden's dissatisfied voice.
"What are you trying to do?"
