ARIEL'S POV
My eyes were still fixed on the gift Elizabeth had handed me. It was so nice, really wonderful. It was just what anyone would want at a time like this.
"I...I don't know what to say," I managed, my voice quivering. "This is...this is amazing. Thank you."
I gingerly picked up the figurine, running my fingers over the smooth surface. It was so lifelike, so perfect. I brought it close to my heart, letting the memories of my mother wash over me.
Elizabeth gave me a sad smile. "You're welcome. I just...I wanted to do something for you, something that might help. You've been such a good friend to me."
She reached out and took my hand.
We stood there for a moment, our hands intertwined. Then, Elizabeth gave my hand a gentle squeeze.
"Why don't we sit down? We could talk if you want. I know you must have a lot going through your head right now."
