Chapter 44
"I don't want the money. I really don't want the money," Declan cried out, his face streaked with tears and snot.
"Alright, if you're so adamant, I suppose I'll have to reluctantly agree not to give you any money. Do you have any information about the demon beasts?" Icarus asked solemnly.
Demon beasts?
Declan's mind raced, and he quickly recalled a piece of information he had learned two years ago.
"Yes! And it's right in Riverton! P-Please relocate my limbs first. I'm in so much pain I can hardly breathe," Declan pleaded.
Icarus bent down and relocated Declan's left leg.
"Speak," Icarus instructed.
Even though Icarus had only relocated one leg, Declan felt the pain eased significantly.
"There's a primeval forest in Sabledale. For a while, there were frequent reports of beastly roars coming from it. The authorities sent a team to investigate, but none of them returned. They then sent in a squad of soldiers, but they didn't return either.
