Chapter 54
The surgery that Zoe and her senior doctor had scheduled was only seven days away.
I didn't feel like going back to the villa these few days, so I temporarily rented an apartment near the hospital and stayed there.
I wanted to spend my last seven days in Brightville peacefully.
I'd initially believed that time would fly by quickly—but I felt as if I was going mad when only a day had passed.
The apartment was small and narrow, and it felt as if I was some sort of item sealed off and locked away inside this unit.
There was no one I could talk to, and the only thing that engulfed the entire apartment was silence.
I lay on the bed and reminisced about the first time I met Valerie.
It had been during a socialite party. At that time, the Lindberg family wasn't as well known as they were now. Back then, the Lindberg family in Netherwood was barely beginning to show their strength.
I was the son of the wealthiest family in Netherwood, so I was the center of attention during that party.
