Seeing as I was about to leave, Camilla suddenly sat up and said, "Jeffrey, I just realized that you're actually pretty charming.
"You're even more charming than that pretty boy, Andrew. It's a shame you're not Ms. Lindberg's type."
I never thought I'd hear her say such a thing. Was it truly possible that older people were attracted to the young, and vice versa?
"Alright, stop talking and have Gabriel pick you up. See you, Camilla." As soon as I walked out the door, Camilla caught up to me.
"Jeffrey, you seem a little weird today. Did something happen?" she asked tentatively.
Facing her compassion, I felt the discomfort in my heart alleviate quite a bit. It had been far too long since anyone had ever cared for me.
Even Camilla could sense that something was wrong with me but Valerie, who was my wife of ten years, couldn't. It seemed that Valerie truly did not trust a word I said.
"I'm fine. Go back," I replied.
