Chapter 4 Limited Edition

Ignoring their contempt, Emily walked straight to the new arrivals section. A simple, loose-fitting ivory dress she had designed was displayed on a mannequin. The dress was chic and elegant, perfect for her to wear to the Thomas family banquet tomorrow. Just as Emily reached out to touch the dress, the head saleswoman hurried over, her words dripping with sarcasm. "Hold on, Miss. If you can't afford it, don't dirty the dress." The other sales assistants started whispering among themselves, "I saw the news about the Parker family. She looks just like the second daughter of the Parker family." Another assistant asked, "The one who went to prison for three years for putting someone in a vegetative state?" The first girl replied, "Yeah, that's her. She caused a scene at her stepsister's wedding yesterday and still dares to go shopping." Hearing their chatter, Emily let out a cold laugh. Then she turned to the head saleswoman and said calmly, "I'll buy this dress. Please wrap it up for me." The head saleswoman's eyes widened in disbelief, "You're actually buying it?" At that moment, a sharp, coquettish voice rang out, "Lily, is this the new arrival designed by the designer, Mira?” The head saleswoman, Lily Hopkins, turned to see who it was and immediately flashed a bright smile, warmly welcoming the newcomer, "Miss Hines, it's an honor to have you here. This dress on is indeed the new arrival, Mira's latest work, globally limited to eight pieces." "Harper, you'll look fabulous in this dress!" a friend of the newcomer flattered her. Among them, someone asked, "Harper, you stood up Ethan yesterday, is that okay?" The friend was met with a dismissive glance. "What could happen? Harper is beautiful and comes from a good family. Marrying that cripple?Ethan would be such a waste." The girl continued, "But won't she offend the Thomas family? Has there been any word from Ethan?" Harper flickered her black hair and proudly raised her chin, "No worries. Bob will protect me. Bob and I are a perfect match. If my father hadn't made a promise to Mr. Aldrich Thomas behind my back, I would never agree to marry Ethan, that cripple." Mentioning Bob Barber, Harper showed a girlish shyness. Her friends started to cheer, "Yes, yes, Bob is young and capable, a perfect match for Harper! Ethan is old and crippled, what a joke!" Harper was bashful as she twisted her body, "Alright, alright, stop it. Ethan is Bob's ninth uncle after all. Bob will be here to pick me up later, don’t let him hear this, it might affect his impression of me." Emily silently listened on the side, realizing that this was the woman who stood Ethan up yesterday, the eldest daughter of the Hines family, Harper. Not only had she rudely stood Ethan up, but she was also badmouthing him behind his back. "Miss Hines, I saw this dress first. Please check out other items," Emily raised her eyebrows and spoke up. She didn't want to sell her designed dress to such a woman. Now that Ethan was her husband, she didn’t want him to be insulted. Harper finally noticed Emily and immediately showed a disdainful expression, scrutinizing Emily from head to toe. "Oh my, are you wearing prison clothes? I didn't look carefully just now, I thought you were a cleaning lady here!" With a disdainful face, Harper pressed on aggressively, "You just came out of prison and don't understand the market, right? Do you know how much this dress costs? This is the latest creation by the world-renowned top designer Mira. Even if you have twenty thousand dollars, you probably can't afford it!" Emily chuckled lightly, "Designer Mira likes special numbers. This dress is a global limited edition with only 8 pieces available, priced at 8.88 million dollars. You can't book it in advance and can only buy it in-store." Harper's face changed abruptly, "8.88 million dollars? Are you kidding me? The jeans designed by Mira I bought before only cost twenty thousand!" The Hines family was not among the top-tier wealthy families, merely considered wealthy and influential. She could accept paying a hundred thousand dollars for a dress, but not 8.88 million. If she bought this dress, her dad would kill her. At this moment, Lily smiled awkwardly and explained, "Miss Hines, the price of this dress is indeed 8.88 million. Currently, our store is the only one in the country to have it, just arrived by air today. The high price is due to its limited edition nature. What you bought before were basic models." Harper felt dizzy. "Since Miss Hines can't afford it, there's no need for us to compete," Emily said calmly to Lily in a cold tone, "This dress belongs to me." "Convict!" Harper's mocking tone made Emily burst into laughter. "Even if I can't afford it, can a convict like you afford it? Why are you pretending to be someone you're not!" "Miss Hines really lacks manners," Emily said with a slight smile of contempt. "Today, Miss Hines has truly shown me the upbringing of a descendent of a rich family." "You! You damn bitch!" Enraged, Harper raised her hand as if to slap the ugly woman in front of her. However, Emily was quick to react, grasping her wrist firmly and pushing her away hard. Harper was wearing high heels, she couldn't keep her balance as she stepped back and fell to the ground. The scene was quite embarrassing. "What's going on?" Suddenly, a young man's voice rang out. As Harper was helped up by her companions, she happened to see Alexander walking in. "Mr. Alexander, long time no see!" Harper's teary eyes stared directly at Alexander. Alexander had just been peeking outside for a while. He only walked in after getting a clear idea of the situation. Obviously, Emily hated Harper. "Miss Hines, what's going on with you?" Alexander shook his sparse hair and inadvertently captivated Harper's companions. They secretly screamed in admiration, all enchanted by Alexander, after all, he was the famous playboy. He was charming, attractive, and liked by many young girls. Seeing this, Harper became even more competitive. She wanted Alexander to be enchanted by her. She suppressed the pain in her ankle and walked with a graceful posture to Alexander's side, a crying look on her face. "Mr. Alexander, please help me! This convict is bullying me…" Alexander was stunned and quickly glanced at Emily, shaking his head with an apologetic expression. As if to say, “Boss, I really have nothing to do with Harper!’
