"Cole? Is Cole here?"
The reporters swerved around, only to be stunned by my grim expression.
"Are you guys done with your questions?" I asked, my heart aching when I saw Lorraine cornered by them.
She shouldn't have been dragged into this.
I met her gaze and noticed a flash of helplessness in her eyes. I reached out to take her hand.
"Let's go."
Watching her turn her head to wipe away her tears, I couldn't help but feel disheartened.
"I'll clarify everything. If I find out that you're causing trouble to Lorraine again, you know the consequences," I warned the reporters.
Inside the car, Lorraine still hadn't recovered from the chaos earlier.
My heart ached when I saw her dazed expression. I touched her cheek. It was colder than I expected, as if she'd been standing outside for a long time.
"They didn't hurt you, did they?"
Recollecting herself, Lorraine seemed slightly embarrassed. "Honestly, you didn't have to come."
"Part of this is my fault too," I said.
