Chapter 8
"Master!" Ian panicked a bit, but he had to keep his composure.
Julia squeezed his wrist to check his pulse, it was erratic. She knew this pulse very well, he was about to die.
"I'll bring him to his room. Go find a servant and have them call the doctors, now!" Ian ordered Julia anxiously.
Julia released William's hand and asked Ian, "Ian, if he dies, how much of his property will I inherit from him?"
Ian was utterly stunned, how could she be joking at this moment?
William was weak and he was breaking out a cold sweat, but he suddenly woke up when he heard her question.
This heartless woman, she only wanted the treasures of his mansion when he dies.
Ian answered nervously, "You're not married to him yet, so..."
There were many treasures in William's mansion, the two medicine bottles and the secret of the Eyes of Immortality were among the greatest treasures.
If those were the greatest treasure then she could only imagine what powerful artifacts and shiny gemstones she could obtain.
It would be really heartbreaking if he was buried with such treasure.
She now knew that she wouldn't get anything if William died right now. She said compassionately as she looked at William's face, "I won't be able to inherit your riches if you die right now. Live just a little while longer until we are married, okay?"
Ian then saw her pinch various parts of his body, from head to arms to torso.
This was the hardest and most confusing day for Ian. He understands that his master is good-looking but now was not the time to take advantage of him!
"The prince must go back to the room, otherwise it will too—"
Before Ian had finished speaking, he found that the physical condition of his master had suddenly improved, and his purple eyes became clearer.
"It seems like I won't be dying today. You're going to inherit my riches after all," He said in hoarse voice. His face was completely pale as if there was no blood flowing through it.
"Don't speak, you're not healed yet! I just massaged your pressure points to give you temporary relief." Julia's face showed a dignified expression.
No one in the twenty-third century knew that Julia, the greatest thief, was also the heir of the Murong family, the world's oldest family of Chinese medical practitioners. Their secret techniques and medicines date back thousands of years.
When she was young, she was forced to learn all the techniques and recipes of the Murong family, but she didn't couldn't bear to live like a slave to tradition.
She ran away and ended up getting kidnapped by the experimental research institute. She then escaped and became the world's greatest thief before inevitably dying to a bomb.
The medicine she had studied saved her on multiple occasions, but she had never used it on anyone else, mainly because she had no one else to save.
William was the first person she ever saved with her knowledge of medicine. Her greed and stubbornness to treasure forced her to keep him alive for a little while longer.
She had never saved anyone else ever since she ran away from home. So many years had passed, but she was still able to perform the medical skills she had learned. It was simply engraved into her bones.
Julia then said, "You're stable now, I promise you won't die. Take him to his room and treat him well."
Julia waved her hand. She then turned and left without reluctance.
William looked at her cool and windy back, his eyes sank slightly. He wanted her to stay with him.
But he couldn't move a muscle. His body felt a lot better, but he was still weak.
"Let's go," he said weakly.
"Yes, my Lord! I'll take you to your room right away," Ian answered.
As Ian took him to his room, he decided to remind his master, "Master, please, you have to listen to me sometimes. What you did just now was too dangerous, you could have died!"
William stayed silent. He thought it was utter nonsense, the pain that he felt was nothing compared to what he felt as he saw Julia in pain.
Fortunately, Julia's was able to relieve his pain. This was his first time seeing a technique like this, he thought it was a spiritual technique that he had never heard about.
William's illness was very severe, it wasn't the type of illness that had a quick-relief medicine he could drink. It was something way worse, almost like a curse.
The mansion was filled with the best doctors and the most powerful alchemists, so Julia left without hesitation.
Compared to William, her dying mother had no one to take care of her.
Julia always kept her promises. She promised to save Julia's mother as thanks for giving her a second chance, and she was determined to fulfill that promise.
As soon as she walked out she saw a group of people standing outside the gates of the mansion. She recognized them instantly because of Julia's memories.
It was the elders and masters of the Qin family.
The man in front was in his forties, his face was stern and his body was well-built. When he saw Julia, he became furious.
"Julia, you insolent fool! You actually caused my son to be imprisoned in William's Mansion. Haven't you learned anything from last time? I will make you regret your actions for all your life!"
He not only scolded Julia, but he also showed off his spiritual cultivation, which far exceeded what he knew of Julia's talents.
He didn't want to cause any more trouble. He just wanted to scare her, make her admit that Henry's imprisonment was her doing so he could be freed from the dungeons.
Julia saw right through him and thought that it was funny.
Julia replied coldly, "We are still in the premises of William's mansion and I am William's fiancée.
"Shadows! Where are you guys? Beat these wild dogs away, I still need to go back home."
A black figure flew out, it was Ian and he said firmly, "Yes, Lady Chu!"
Ian had been with the prince for a very long time, he knew that Julia was a very special person to him, despite the two of them only meeting once. In addition, Julia knew many things that he himself could not understand, it would simply be a waste if something were to happen to her before he could learn her secrets.
The Shadows were quick, accurate and well-coordinated. Multiple swift strikes could be heard and the men were flying like Ragdolls.
The dogs were cleaned up, and Julia returned to the Chu house according to the route she remembers, without batting an eye to the elders of the Qin family.
This little girl didn't bother to look at them at all. One of the elders was about to take someone and chase after her, but Ian stopped them immediately.
The leader of the group said angrily, "You dare act on your own accord? Where is your master? I want to see him!"
Ian firmly said, "Our prince has fallen ill and he will not be seeing anyone. Elders and masters of the Qin family, return at once! My master may be the sickly child, but he is still the son of the king! Our majesty will burn down your house and your family lineage should you dare injure his son."
The entire Qin family was furious but they all mutually agreed not to cause any more trouble once they heard his serious tone.
William became seriously ill right after Henry appeared and caused trouble at his mansion.
If the king learned about this then he would hold no mercy to the Qin family.
The elders shivered as they remembered that bloody day so long ago.
