Chapter 10
Tiffany waited for Micah until it was dark outside.
She crouched in the corner and drew circles, ignoring the man standing in the doorway.
Micah’s strapping figure was dressed in a black suit. His handsome face was covered with frost, and he stared at her with a gloomy expression.
"Come out."
"I called you at noon, and you’re only picking me up now. I'm angry."
Irritation flashed across Micah’s brow.
He was already doing her a big favor by picking her up, and now she wanted to throw a mini tantrum? Who could accept it?
Tiffany heard his footsteps fading away. When she turned around and saw no one at the door, she went after him hurriedly.
Catching up with him at the door, she pulled his sleeve and asked, "Why did you leave?"”
"Do you still want me to coax you? I’m not your parents."
"I'm your wife."
Micah's face turned cold as he reminded her, "Miss Young, as I said before, it wasn’t my wish to marry you. We’ll divorce in a year. In the meantime, I hope you’ll behave yourself and not expect anything from me. It’s for your own good.
"You’re still a child. I don’t want to use the tactics I use against women on you. Do you understand?"
At this point, it had turned into a warning.
"Also, I hope there won’t be a repeat of what happened today. There's a million dollars in this card, so it should be enough to cover your expenses for the year. Don't give me any more trouble."
A card was clamped between the man's long, bony fingertips. It glowed coldly in the dark night.
His eyes were indifferent, and he gave her the money with an aloof aura. He had this attitude of looking askance at everything as if he was giving alms to a beggar.
Even the clothes on his body cost more than a million dollars.
He was not stingy, but rather, she was only worth this much in his eyes.
No.
Even a million dollars was a service to her.
Tiffany lowered her eyes and smiled for a long time. “Micah Blake, there's no need to draw such a hard line. You still need me to draw out the poison in your body.”
To be so arrogant while pleading with someone for help, was she out of her mind?
Micah stretched out his hands and massaged his brows, sneering all of a sudden.
Was she trying to blackmail him?
This woman had a lot of guts, perhaps too much.
It was a single poison, and he could not die from it. He certainly would not be coerced into doing anything because of it.
With a bang, he slammed the car door and drove away, leaving Tiffany alone at the entrance of the police station.
As she watched the car leave, she vowed never to treat him again.
As she squatted on the steps of the police station, she took out her mobile phone to call for a ride. She found herself on the list of hot searches.

There were many other similar news stories. Although her name was only written as Young, when the articles were read, all but her social security number was revealed.
The news made her out to be a greedy, vain gold-digger, while the Blakes were a deluded rich family. That old man received sympathy from numerous people.
The masses were outraged and tore her to shreds.
Although Tiffany naturally had a good temperament, the matter managed to incite her fury.
A car stopped in front of her, and Julian got down from the car. He was tall and long-legged. He looked like the hedonistic son of a rich man in his silver suit with his laidback, arrogant face.
He grabbed Tiffany's arm and pulled her into the car, and they were off like an arrow hurtling from a string, speeding toward the Lawrences.
He reached out to hand her a few chocolates.
Tiffany clasped her chin, an indifferent expression on her face. "I'm fine."
Once they arrived at the Lawrences’ and explained why they had come, the servants let them in.
The moment they entered the courtyard, they saw Tyler kneeling on a stone slab, his waist and back straight. He had a stack of plates on his head. If he so much as made a slight movement, the plates would fall to the ground and shatter.
When he saw Tiffany, his gaze hardened as if he had been poisoned.
"What are you doing here? You’re not welcome at our house. Get out."
"You insolent brat, say another word and I’ll break your legs."
Mr. Lawrence was on crutches and wearing a casual suit as he yelled at Tyler with all of his might.
Anger was written all over Tyler’s face, but he did not dare to say a word. He looked at Tiffany with stifled frustration.
He really did not know what kind of brainwashing concoction she had brewed for his grandfather to make the man who had always doted on him reprimand him over a police report.
He could not convince his grandfather that he had been cheated, and he did not believe it when he heard that his grandfather had transferred the funds to her voluntarily.
Mr. Lawrence was mind blown when he saw Tiffany and Julian coming together. He had yet to send off a guest and now more were here.
As he welcomed the two into his house, Tiffany saw the man sitting in the living room and gave a faint stare.
Micah turned his head, and his black eyes flashed with surprise as if he did not expect Tiffany to appear with Julian.
Tiffany had a look of indifference on her face. "Mr. Lawrence, I hope you can give me an explanation for what happened today."
Her accusatory tone surprised not only Micah but also the Lawrences, who were caught off guard.
Xandria laughed bitterly. "Such audacity. We, the Lawrences, haven't even asked you for the 100 million, and yet you want to play the victim and come to our family for an explanation.
"All a woman from the countryside knows is how to cheat and deceive. It’s really unbecoming."
They did know where she got the gall to come looking for trouble in their home.
Before Tiffany could say anything, Micah’s face had sunk.
In an intimidating voice devoid of anger, he said, "Mrs. Lawrence, Tiffany is now my wife, so what gives you the right to lecture and judge the young mistress of the Blake family?"
As soon as he spoke, the scene immediately fell silent.
Although the Lawrences were a prestigious family in South City with a wide network of connections, they were still just a little bit lower than the Blakes on the social pyramid.
Offending someone like Micah, who was brutal and ruthless in his ways, would not be good for the Lawrences.
Xandria was not willing to back down. "Micah, you don’t really acknowledge this woman as your wife, do you?
"She’s not worthy of you at all."
Everyone thought so.
In all of South City, no one recognized Tiffany as a Blake, including the Blakes themselves.
Everyone felt that it would just be a matter of days before Micah would kick her out of the house.
They were all just waiting to add insult to injury and to trample on Tiffany further once the inevitable took place.
Micah crossed one leg over the other, and there was a sharp glint in his eyes. “You don’t have to worry yourself over my family matters.”
Tiffany stood to the side as her part got reduced from the main character to the supporting character.
She was a little confused about Micah now.
Just a moment ago, he had left her behind, and now, he was being so protective of her.
As it turned out, a man’s heart was indeed full of mysteries.
Fickle, indeed.
She let out a light cough to get everyone’s attention. "Mrs. Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence gave me the money as part of a transaction. I got the money fair and square. I didn’t wish to make this trip in the first place at all out of respect for Mr. Lawrence.
"But since you had to damage my reputation by making such a scene on the internet, you can’t blame me for doing away with the niceties."
She had already handled everything at the police station. Since it was a misunderstanding on Tyler’s end, it was only up to Mr. Lawrence to dole out the punishment. She was not going to interfere.
However, these people should not have bullied her online under any circumstances.
She did not care about two or three haters spewing hate, but she despised having the public slander her so maliciously.
"Tiffy, this one is on me. Please don't be angry. I'll take care of it."
The old man, with a face full of wrinkles and a head full of white hair, spoke carefully in fear of angering her.
As Tiffany looked at him, she did not feel good about the way things were.
She took a quick glance at Yves and Xandria whose eyes were filled with rage and contempt. A faint sadness came over her.
Mr. Lawrence had always served his country and his family loyally. At this age, he still had to go to such trouble for his son and grandson.
"Mr. Lawrence, I respect you. You’re not well, and at your age, you should be taking care of your health. Why put yourself through such trivialities?"
Her heart was beginning to soften.
"I dragged you into this, so I should be the one to clear your name."
In front of her, Mr. Lawrence ordered Yves to remove all the hot searches on the internet and also told them to be more respectful to Tiffany in the future as well as to not look down on others.
Yves gave his secretary an order, and a short while later, the secretary called to say that all the online comments had been wiped. All related hot searches had also been eliminated by someone else prior.
Mr. Lawrence did not know whether it was done by Tiffany herself or Micah, but one had to have confidence when coming to the Lawrences’.
"Let’s issue a clarification statement, then."
Once the matter was resolved, Tiffany and Julian left. As Tiffany looked out the car window, she saw Micah standing upright in front of Tyler, saying something indiscernible.
He looked up and gave her a glance.
Those ink-black eyes were devoid of warmth. They were cool and emotionless.
