Chapter 3: Kicked Out

To be honest, Beverly felt a bit embarrassed making such a request. The truth is, in that car accident, Casper was just an innocent bystander. If Casper hadn't been trying to avoid Allen's car that day, he wouldn't have collided with her in his blind spot. You could say, for Casper, this was almost an undeserved disaster. But taking advantage of this, getting Casper to marry her and even making demands, maybe she was going too far. Beverly smiled slightly, "If you refuse..." "I agree!" Casper suddenly spoke, leaving Beverly stunned for a moment. "I've already discussed this with the clan leader, and they agree too. It's just that the wedding might be delayed." Casper's tone was indifferent as he spoke. "That's fine, take your time," Beverly coughed awkwardly. Casper's tone made it sound like she was desperate to get married and was rushing Casper into it. "Since you have no objections, tomorrow, I'll send someone to pick you up, and we'll go get the marriage certificate," Casper said. Casper's urgency made Beverly a bit flustered. "Tomorrow? So soon?" Casper glanced at Beverly, "I'm afraid you might change your mind. My clan already knows about this. If later you suddenly remember that you don't get along with me, or if you rekindle your old flame with Allen, where does that leave the Butte family's reputation?" Indeed, in Casper's eyes, family interests were always the most important. Whether it was love or marriage, they were both cornerstones for the family's prosperity. It might be better this way. A marriage based on mutual interests might be more solid. Beverly nodded, "I understand. Since I've said it, I won't take it back. But I still want to wait until I'm better. Can we do it in a month? Don't worry, I won't back out." "Okay." After saying that, Casper got up and left. Beverly pursed her lips. Casper still had that deadpan expression. She had never seen him smile. He was really boring. After Casper left, Nicole came in with some sliced fruit, looking worried. "Did Casper bully you?" They had all grown up together. Ever since kindergarten when Beverly beat up the crybaby Casper, the two of them had never gotten along. So, they competed academically and for projects in secret. Publicly, whenever they were together, it was always awkward. If it wasn't for the good relationship between the two families, they might have fought even more. Nicole initially suspected that Casper might have intentionally collided with Beverly this time. After finding out the truth, she let go of her guard. Beverly shook her head, "With me like this now, if he still bullies me, that would be too much. Although we've been at odds since childhood, I don't think he's that crazy." "That's good, but you should stay away from him in the future. He might be targeting you. Otherwise, why is it always you he hits?" Nicole said seriously. Beverly couldn't help but laugh bitterly. She was about to say that now she probably couldn't stay away even if she wanted to, because they were going to be husband and wife. Just then, the door was pushed open. Beverly didn't expect Allen, who had just been kicked out, to show up again. And not only him, but even Lucy was in the room this time. Seeing Beverly lying on the bed with her foot suspended, Lucy exclaimed, "Beverly, what happened? It's so serious! I'm really sorry, I didn't expect it to be like this." Lucy's eyes turned red as tears welled up, as if Beverly wasn't the one who had suffered a great deal, but she was. "It's all my fault. Why did I have to get sick at your wedding? If it wasn't for Allen saving me, you wouldn't be like this. Beverly, I'm so sorry!" With a tearful voice, Lucy looked as if she had suffered the greatest harm, not Beverly. "It's all my fault. Why did I have to get sick at your wedding? If I had known your wedding wasn't over yet, I would rather have died of my illness than disturb you and Allen's wedding. It's all my fault..." Hearing Lucy's words, Nicole was angry. She stepped forward and pushed Lucy, "I'm about to vomit from listening to you. Lucy, why are you so despicable?" "Everyone in Texas knows about Beverly and Allen's wedding. Are you pretending not to know? Who are you fooling?" "A fake depression, like the whole world owes you?!" "So powerful that doctors can't cure your illness, only Allen can save you? You conveniently fall sick whenever Beverly and Allen are together?" "You're fooling yourself!" "Nicole, watch your mouth!" Allen frowned and reprimanded Nicole. Beverly sneered, "Nicole, get them out of here. I feel sick just looking at them." Nicole ushered Allen and Lucy out.
